REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL This committee develops policies and sets the dues ratio. Its members serve as liaisons to their local associations. All locals are entitled to have at least one member of the Representative Council, regardless of the size of the local. Larger locals may send one representative per 50 members. Any SCEA member may become a representative by election at the local level or by local presidential appointment. SCEA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE The Executive Committee consists of
the officers of the association, the county NJEA executive committee
member, the county NJEA delegate assembly members, SCEA committee
chairpersons, and all SCEA members serving on NJEA committees. This
committee carries out the policies of the SCEA and implements
expenditures.
NEGOTIATIONS ROUNDTABLE These meetings are held 4-5 times each year to provide information and training to local negotiations teams. Meeting notices are mailed to local negotiations chairpersons approximately three weeks before the meeting. All negotiations team members from around the county are encouraged to attend. Contact the SCEA office for meeting dates. LEGISLATIVE ACTION TEAM This group meets on a regular basis to become informed of the latest educational issues at the state and federal level and to organize our members for political action around these issues. All legislative committee chairpersons from our local associations and any other interested members are invited to attend. The co-chairs of this committee are Amy Mogland and Daynon Blevins. The Congressional Contact Committee chair is Madelaine Colas. SCEA SYMPOSIUM The SCEA Symposiums are afternoon training sessions open to all SCEA members. Workshops are held from 4-6pm and dinner is served at 6. A brochure is mailed to local presidents early in the school year indicating workshop topics and which workshops will count towards your PD credits. The contact person for this workshop is Ginny Malpas. OTHER SERVICES The SCEA office is available to local associations for meetings of up to 35 people. Local Associations may also use our phone banks to communicate to members regarding school elections and building referenda. Please call the office at 732-356-9320 to make arrangements. The SCEA Calendar is published in September. It includes a schedule of events and a directory of all officers, committee chairs and local presidents. Calendars are sent to Local Presidents prior to the first Representative Council meeting in September. Local presidents are asked to make other arrangements to pick up the calendars if no one from the district attends the meeting. SCRIBE The SCEA Scribe is published 5 times each year. Local associations are encouraged to send items of interest for the newsletter to Barbara Parker at the SCEA office. The Scribe is delivered to each school district and distributed to our members through the local associations. |
