PRESIDENT
     Barbara Parker is the President of the SCEA, after previously serving as Second VP and Editor of the Scribe.  She is currently the President of the Hillsborough Education Association  Until 2004 when she recieved an NEA/NJEA grant for full time release, Barbara had  taught  in the middle school gifted and talented program in Hillsborough for 20 years.  Prior to that, she taught special education and speech in Warren and Watchung Boro. She holds a Bachelor and Masters degree in speech correction and elementary education from Kean University and holds additional certification in special education.  Some of you may also meet her in her role as an NJEA Region 13 UniServ Consultant. In addition to her union activities, she is kept busy being a mother to her four daughters.

Madelaine Colas

1st VICE PRESIDENT

     Madelaine Colas, also known as Maddie to her friends and colleagues, is an alumni of Fordham University at Lincoln City and a native New Yorker.  For the past 8 years she has lived in North Plainfield,, where she has worked for the Bilingual/ESL department of North Plainfield High School.  She is currently the administrative assistant to the principal of East End Elementary School.  Maddie is active in her local association where she has been a local president and is currently the treasurer and grievance chair.  Maddie stays busy with her association work along with keeping up with her two very active children.

 2nd VICE PRESIDENT

     Steve has twelve years of experience as a representative and officer in his local, county and state organization.  He has served as president of the Bridgewater-Raritan Education Association, the largest local in the county.  He has extensive training and experience in all areas of advocacy, organization, planning, communication and leadership.

Denise Graff

SECRETARY

     Denise has served as Co-President of the Bernards Township Education Association for the past three years.  She serves on the Negotiations Committee, the Professional Development Committee, and the Health and Safety Committee.  She has worked as a Mathematics Teacher for nine years at William Annin Middle School and recently moved to Ridge High School..  Denise serves as a member of the SCEA Executive Council as Elections Chair and has served as NJEA Delegate Assembly Alternate and Delegate for the NEA Representative Assembly.  She was a 2006 participate of Union School and attends numerous NJEA conferences throughout the year.  Denise loves to travel with her family and has been to Europe, Mexico, Nevada, Florida, and the Caribbean within the last two years.

SCEA OFFICE SECRETARY


Linda Coghlan has worked with  the SCEA since January, 2006.  She was born and raised in Jersey City and is a graduate of  The Berkeley School, now known as Berkeley College.   She worked as private secretary to the Vice President of Corporate Systems in Hartz Mountain Corp., Harrison, NJ.     After moving  to Dunellen in 1987 with her husband Jim and two sons, Jim, Jr. and Sean,  Linda returned to the workplace as a real estate secretary, also acquiring  her NJ real estate license.  Her interests include antiques, gardening and collecting vintage autos.  Linda enjoys the diversity of the work at the SCEA and the wonderful group of people.
